Deanne North

Dance Teacher.

Deanne started dancing at the age of three. She attended the Joyce Butler school of dancing where she trained in various styles of dance: Jazz, Modern, Tap, RAD ballet, Greek and National gaining many grades in theses styles. She was awarded - Distinction in RAD Ballet from Grade 1 - 6 (gaining 97 marks in grade 6) Distinction in IDTA medal exams from Juvenille - Gold Bar 1 in ballet, Tap and Modern Distinction in ISTD Intermediate - Advance 1/2 in Modern and Tap Whilst at Joyce Butler's Deanne was given the opportunity to become an assistant teacher at the age of 16 which is where her passion for teaching began.

To enhance her repertoire of styles, Deanne attended Uxbridge College taking a one year diploma course in Performing arts, followed by a two years btec national diploma dance course where she learnt musical theatre, contemporary, contact improvisation and various styles of Jazz. In 2005 Deanne completed her college studies having gained the following qualifications : Btec 1st Diploma in Performing Arts - Distinction - played lead role in end of year production ‘Starfish’ Btec national Diploma in Dance - Triple distinction - 3 A – levels – End of year lead role in Romeo and Juliet (Deanne played Juliet)

Deciding to make dancing her career Deanne gained a place at Edinburghs Telford College. Previous to this Deanne went to London Auditions but felt it wasn't for her even though she gained a place at Urdang college (part scolarship) and Middlesex University. She studied for a further 2 years in HND professional stage dance. The challenging but rewarding course saw her adding Highland dancing, African, choreography and dance notation to her considerable list of dance skills. Deanne returned back home in 2007 to start her journey in teaching. She attended The Masque Theatre school in Kent to study dance teaching. After a year she gained her pre asscioate teaching qualification in Jazz. Shortly after this she landed a job as a teacher for Dance Academy UK based in St Albans, after 5 months of hard work Deanne was offered Vice Principal role of the school due to the relationships she had with parents and students and dedication.

During her time at Dance Academy UK she taught ages 3 - 50+ years, teaching many styles of dance and preparing the students for shows, public performances and exams. After two years at Dance Academy Deanne decided it was her time to make a new journey and start up her own school. So in 2011 she opened a school for all ages and abilities and continued teaching many styles of dance and carrying on with performance and exams which she has a 100% pass rate with a student gaining 90%. In that same year she studied for another qualifiaction in teaching and gained 95% which she now is a member and fully qualified teacher of the IDTA. Sadly February 2015 Deanne had to stop teaching due to her 2nd pregnancy and finding out that her husband has been posted to RAF Odiham.

I still have a close bond with the parents and students and love to hear how they are continuing in the dance world. But Deanne is very happy to be joining the June White Academy of Dance and help pass on her experience and knowledge of dance with our students.
